Possible Reportable and Reimbursable Information

It is a best practice to report any device used with a procedure, even if reporting is not required.

The Device/Product database lists individual devices and products matched with manufacturer-suggested category code assignments. Hospitals are ultimately responsible for reporting the correct category codes representing the products and devices used in their facility.

Note: Effective January 01, 2015 CMS stopped publishing the procedure to device crosswalk list required to be reported on a Medicare claims. Although CMS no longer publishes the procedure to device crosswalk, CMS does expect providers to report the appropriate device code with the procedure code and now have general/broad editing for requiring a device for some of the device dependent procedures. Therefore device codes and device dependent procedures in Knowledge Source are based on a review of CMS regulations, clinical expertise, and are subject to change.

Procedure

Perform a CPT code quick search or advanced search.
From the CPT Detail page, click the Possible Reportable and Reimbursable icon in the icon bar. The detail page opens.

Field Descriptions

This table explains the field and descriptions of the Possible Reportable and Reimbursable Detail page.

Detail Page Field	Description
Code	The HCPCS code that is possibly reportable and reimbursable.
Separately payable device information available?	Indicates whether separately payable device information is available.
Description	HCPCS code description.
Expiration Date	Shows when the relationship of the HCPCS and the edit for the device code expired. If this column is blank, then the edit is still current for this HCPCS.
"N" Status Effective Date	Shows when the device stopped being separately payable and began to be packaged into the APC payment for the HCPCS.
