Code Pairs
Code Pairs are outpatient procedure codes that occur frequently on claims with your selected CPT/HCPCS. This data is derived from the LDS Standard Analytical File (SAF), also known as the Medicare Claims File. The LDS SAF is released yearly by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), and contains claims services for one calendar year (based on claim-through date).
The Code Pairs Display page gives you a list of codes and the number of times by percentage that each have appeared on claims with your selected code. For a procedure to be shown in the Code Pairs results, it must occur above a statistically meaningful number of times with your selected CPT/HCPCS. It is important to remember that this is a statistical analysis of codes occurring on the same claim, and does not imply a clinically-based relationship between the codes.

- Perform a CPT/HCPCS search. The detail page opens in a new tab.
- Click the Code Pairs icon
in the icon bar. The Code Pairs Display page opens.
Tip: The code pairs display in decreasing order of frequency as they occurred on the same claim as the selected CPT/HCPCS. LDS SAF source information for the code pairs also displays on the page.
