View Account Research by Account or Claim Number Results
If you research an account by account number or claim number, and the number you entered has multiple accounts associated with it, the View Account Research by Account or Claim Number page allows you to select the specific account you want to review.
Note: The option to search by claim number is only available if your facility provides claim numbers. If your facility does not provide claim numbers, all options and references to claim number are removed.

- Access the Account Research by Account or Claim Number page.
- Select Go To > Account Research > By Account or Claim Number. The Account Research by Account or Claim Number page opens.
- Select one of the following options:
- Select Account to search for accounts by account number.
- Select Claim to search for accounts by claim number. This option is only available if your facility provides claim numbers.
- Type the account number or claim number you want to research in the Number field.
- For more information about searching by account or claim number, refer to Research Accounts by Account or Claim Number.
- Click Display Account. The Account Research by Account or Claim Number page opens.
Note: This page displays only if there are multiple accounts for the selected account or claim number.
- Review the results.
To sort accounts by a different column, select the name of the column you want to sort by from the Sort By list and click Refresh View.
Note: If reviewing a single account, it is not necessary to utilize the sort function.
- To group the accounts by payor class, select Payor Class from the Group By list and click Refresh View. This option is only available if Coordination of Benefits (COB) is enabled for your facility. For more information, refer to Coordination of Benefits.
- If your facility has the Coordination of Benefits (COB) option enabled, the display of this page changes in the following ways:
- The Group By list is replaced by the Filter Payor Class list. To limit the accounts to a specific payor class, select either Primary Only or Non-Primary from the Filter Payor Class list and click Refresh View. For example, to only show primary payors and hide all non-primary payors on this page, select Primary Only. To show all payor classes, select All.
- All reprice records created from the primary claim as a result of COB logic are grouped together under a single claim type to indicate they were created from the same claim.
- Click the available hyperlinks for additional information about the specific episode:
- Click the Claim Type column to display the claim representation. For more information, refer to View the UB-92 Representation or View the 1500 Representation.
- Click the Account Number column to display more details on the Patient Account Audit page. For more information, refer to View the Patient Account Audit Page .
- Click the Message Code column to display the message description.
- Click the Bill Type column to display the Billing Type Definition page. For more information, refer to Billing Type Definition.
- Click the Billed Charges column to display the Detail Line Item Charges page. For more information, refer to View Detail Line Item Charges

Reprice Type |
Indicates the reason the claim was repriced separately from other claims for this account. This column also helps to distinguish between multiple claims on an account. For more information about reprice types, refer to Multiple Reimbursement Calculations > Reprice Types. |

First date of service rendered to the patient |
Service To |
Last date service rendered to the patient |
