Medicare Inpatient Sequestration Settings

Use the Medicare Inpatient Sequestration Settings tool to identify the payment components (insurance, deductible, co-payment) that will be reduced due to sequestration, and to define the reduction parameters for these components.

Note: Refer to the contract to determine the options to select and the values to enter.

The following table describes the fields on the Medicare Inpatient Sequestration Settings tool.

Field

Description

Reduction % applied to

Define the reduction percentage for each of the following components:

  • Insurance
  • Deductible
  • Co-payment

Deductible

The deductible defined as dollars or as a percentage.

Note: Then default setting is dollars.

Inpatient Co-payment

Select the co-payment calculation method:

  • Per Diem (enter the number of days after which the co-payment is waived)
  • Percent of Payment
  • Percent of Charges

Note: Although the tool allows a maximum of five lines with different "from" and "to" values for each line, Medicare uses only two sets of "from" and "to" values.
