Canary Claims

Canary claims are fictional claims you can use for modeling purposes. You can create individual claims from the UB04 Claim Entry and Rework page, or you can create entire groups of claims that are based on existing canary claims or actual claims already in your facility/clinic. When you create canary claims from actual claims, all personal health information is automatically removed as part of the batch process. You can also replicate claims to create 2 to 1000 claims that are all based on one specific canary claim to create larger volumes of claims for modeling purposes.

Note: To use canary claims, the canary claims feature must be turned on for your facility/clinic and for your individual user ID.

Canary Claim Groups

Canary claim groups are simply groups of existing canary claims that you can select when creating a patient list for a model. The person who creates the group is the group owner. Once a canary claim group is created, only the group owner can modify it. Individual modelers, however, can pick and choose claims from the group when creating patient lists.

A canary claim group can be shared across your facility or across your entire organization so that all modelers have access to the same groups of claims for modeling purposes. The availability of the groups you create is determined by your facility. Groups are shared in one of the following ways:

  • Enterprise sharing – Canary claim groups are available to all users that can model claims across your entire organization, including all CBOs and facilities.
  • Business level sharing – Canary claim groups are available to all users that can model claims across all facilities in your CBO.
  • Facility level sharing – Canary claim groups are available to all users that can model claims across a single facility.
