Billing Type Definition
Bill types (field locator 4 on a UB-92 or UB-04) have specific meanings on the Universal Billing form. The three-digit bill type is divided into three sets of information.
- The first digit identifies the type of facility
- The second digit identifies the bill classification / type of care being billed
- The third digit identifies the sequence of the bill within the episode of care
The Billing Type Definition page describes each digit in the three-digit number. Refer to Bill Types for more information.
