Create Complex Patient List Criteria

Each patient list provides the ability to create complex criteria by grouping multiple sub-criteria together to use as a single criteria. For example, if you want to create a patient list that includes accounts with a specified service through date range or a specified admit date range, you can create an admit date sub-criteria under the service through date criteria.

  1. From the Criteria section of the Create/Editing Patient List page, click More Options next to the criteria you want to add a sub-criteria to.

    2. Note: You must hover your mouse over the criteria for this link option to become visible.

  2. Select one of the following options from the Sub-Criteria menu:
    • And Sub-Criteria – Indicates your patient list will only return accounts that meet both criteria. For example, selecting a service through date range and an admit date range means that your patient list will only include accounts with that fall within both date ranges.
    • Or Sub-Criteria – Indicates your patient list will return accounts that meet either criteria.
  3. The Add Criteria window opens and displays a list of all available patient list criteria.
  4. Select the criteria you want to add as a sub-criteria. The field name is added to the Selected Field Names list.
  5. Click Apply. The criteria is added as a sub-criteria and grouped together with the original criteria.

When Patient Number criteria is used with the Is In operator, click Browse to upload a list of patient numbers.

Note: Approximately 8,000 patient numbers (up to 12 characters patient number including commas) can be uploaded .

To increase to 16,000 patient numbers, add an Or sub criteria with another upload of up to 8,000 patient numbers

The guidelines for the patient number list file include the following:

  1. A single column of patient numbers
  2. Use one of the following accepted file formats:
    • CSV - Save as CSV(Comma Delimited)
    • TXT - Save as Normal Text File (*txt) using Notepad or Notepad++
  3. Only alphanumeric characters are accepted
  4. Character limit is 103,999 (including commas)

Uploaded patient numbers populate in the adjacent text box.

Error message displays if guidelines are not followed.
