HAC Codes

A hospital acquired condition (HAC) code represents an undesirable condition that a patient obtained while admitted in a hospital or medical facility. HAC codes are typically secondary to ICD-10 CM codes. Therefore, when an ICD-10 CM code is also an HAC code, you can view the HAC code information in the ICD-10 HAC Codes detail page.

Procedure

  1. From the ICD-10 CM Detail page, click in the icon bar. The ICD-10 HAC Codes detail page opens in a new tab.
