Concurrent Diagnoses

Concurrent diagnosis codes are ICD-10 codes that occur frequently on claims with your selected CPT/HCPCS. This data is derived from the LDS Standard Analytical File (SAF), also known as the Medicare Claims File. The LDS SAF is released yearly by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), and contains claims services for one calendar year (based on claim-through date).

The Concurrent Diagnoses page gives you a list of both primary and secondary diagnosis codes, as well as the number of times by percentage that each code has appeared on a claim with your selected CPT/HCPCS code. For a diagnosis code to appear in the Concurrent Diagnoses results, it must have appeared on at least 100 claims. Due to this requirement, you may see a CPT/HCPCS without a primary diagnosis code, but with a secondary diagnosis code, and vice versa.

It is important to remember that this is a statistical analysis of codes occurring on the same claim and does not imply a clinically based relationship between the codes.
