Use this procedure to predict approximate reimbursement and resource consumption based on procedure, diagnoses, gender, and discharge status.

Note: MSDRG Grouper does not accept CPT codes. To look up the ICD-9 or ICD-10 equivalent of a CPT code, use Search to look for the CPT in CodeBase, and click on the gear icon to get more detailed information.

Procedure

  1. Select CodeCheck > MSDRG Grouper. The MSDRG Grouper Input page opens.
  2. Select a ICD diagnosis of ICD-9 or ICD-10.
  3. Type the appropriate Age.

Note: The default Age is 65.

  1. Select the Sex.
  2. Select the correct Discharge Status. Choose from:
  • 01-Home, Self Care
  • 02-Short Term Hospital
  • 03-SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility)
  • 04-ICF (Intermediate Care Facility)
  • 05-Other Facility
  • 06-Home Health Service
  • 07-Left Against Medical Advice
  • 20-Died
  • 21-Court/Law Enforcement
  • 30-Still a Patient
  • 43-Fed Hospital
  • 50-Hospice - Home
  • 51-Hospice - Medical Facility
  • 61-Swing Bed
  • 62-Rehab Facility/Rehab Unit
  • 63-Long Term Care Hospital
  • 64-Nursing Facility-Medicaid Certified
  • 65-Psych Hosp/Unit
  • 66-Critical Access Hospital
  • 70-Other Institution
  1. Select an Admit Date.
  2. Select a Discharge Date.
  3. Enter the Diagnosis Codes. At least one code is required, and you can enter up to 10.

Note: Enter the primary diagnostic reason for the patient encounter first, and other diagnoses in decreasing order of relevance.

  1. Enter the Procedure Codes. This step is optional.
  2. Click Submit.
